Description This course centers on the theme "The Era of Modernization and Globalization," focusing on the processes of modernization and globalization from the 19th to the 20th century. It examines how social change, consumer culture, and technological advancements have shaped human lifestyles and design practices. Topics include modernist design movements(such as Bauhaus, Art Deco, and the International Style), the integration of postmodernism with local cultures, the rise of consumer society and brand identity, and the impact of digital technology on daily life. Students will explore how industrial production has influenced the design of everyday products, urban planning, and environmental planning, while analyzing how globalization has transformed the language and values of design. The course encourages students to critically reflect on modern lifestyles and consider how design can address contemporary challenges such as environmental sustainability, cultural identity, and social equity.
