5724013 Evaluation of Information System 3.0 3
Description This is an MIS course to study an important and special area of information systems performance measurement and evaluation methods. In the course, we will investigate the major and current standard benchmarks, including the Wisconsin, TP1,TPC-A, TPC-B, TPC-C, and AS AP benchmarks. We will teach the basic concepts of computer systems performance evaluation, system workload modeling, test suites generation, and benchmark experiment design and analysis, Our focus will be on the relational database benchmarking and discussions will be given in class on the object-oriented database benchmarks. Students will be required to complete an independent and individual term project to develop a custom benchmark for a particular problem domain of your choice and to measure two database systems using this benchmark as an opportunity for you to apply the techniques we learn in the class.
