Description This course is focused on the future trend of sustainable design centered innovation management. We will discuss about the competitive advantages from technology management for sustainability, technological entrepreneurship, and system integration. The classes will be developed for establishing students’ critical thinking through the interaction between the instructor and students. A final project report is necessary for each student. The contents of this course include Design Centered Technology Integration, Manufacturing for Design, Market Driven Design, Design Innovation Integration, Ecological Sustainability, Economical Sustainability, Social Sustainability, Size Effects, Cultural Competitive Advantage, Project Portfolio Management, and Complex System Design. The discussed cases in the classes involve Kazou Kawasaki glasses, Mac iBook, REI, Boeing 787 Dreamliner, NIKE, Plasma Gasification, Personalized Healthcare, LED streetlights, Zappos, Samsung, and IDEO.
