| This advanced translation course aims to equip students with the skills necessary to integrate AI tools into their translation workflows. Through merging online translation projects with cutting-edge AI technologies, students will gain hands-on experience in using technology to improve their translation proficiency and efficiency. The course focuses on three main areas: (1) developing metacognitive skills, (2) enhancing instrumental competence, and (3) refining machine translation post-editing techniques. By engaging in online translation projects, including Wikipedia, Global Voices Lingua, and TED, students will employ AI tools, such as ChatGPT and Claude, to critically evaluate and enhance their problem-solving and decision-making capabilities. Additionally, this course will bolster students’ resource-searching abilities through AI-driven tools (e.g., Platograph) and train them in manually editing AI-generated translations to enhance quality.
