5105067 Modern X-Ray Techniques and Materials Analysis 3.0 3
Description This course is to teach students the fundamental theory and applications of x-ray diffraction (XRD) and x-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS). These two x-ray techniques have become very important methods for structural characterizations on modern science. In the XRD part, students will learn how to analyze the powder XRD pattern from d-spacing, structure factor and Rietveld refinement. The illustration of XAS will include x-ray absorption near edge spectroscopy (XANES) and extended x-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS). Meanwhile, the Matlab and relative free softwares will be used to do data analysis. Hope such combinations will enhance the capability of data analysis on students.
