| This lecture is designed to serve those students in textile engineering and mechanical engineering who must acquire a working knowledge of organic chemistry but do not
need all the detial of the traditional full-year course . A
one-semester course in this field can illustrate the fundamental principles of chemistry,of the structure and
nomenclature of matter,and of the factors which govern molecular behavior. The theory and mechanisms of certain reactions have been introduced, especially when it was thought that these might be helpful in explaining to the curious student the "why" of organic chemistry.
