| A comprehensive concept of glycol science is introduce to student in order to lead them toward the important issue of life science. Some important roles played by glycoconjugates will be understood in molecule levels. The course covers the following topics: (1) Chemistry of saccharides (A. Glycopeptide synthesis in solution and on the solid phase; B. Stereoselective synthesis of b-mannosides) (2) Carbohydrate-Protein interactions (3) Conformational analysis by diffraction methods, NMR, Biacores (4) Biology of Saccharides (A. Lectins and Saccharides Biology; B. Protein glycosylation and cancer).
