本課程介紹目前各種材料的製程及功能,並探討材料的性質與材料組成原子的電子組態、原子間之化學鍵結、及晶體結構間的關係。本課程涵蓋了下列內容:1.原子的電子組態及原子間之化學鍵結,2.晶體結構,3.晶體缺陷與固體中的擴散,4.相圖與相變化,5.金屬材料及工程合金,6.陶瓷材料的結構、性質、製程與應用,7.高分子材料的結構、性質、應用與加工,8.複合材料,9.材料之機械性質,10.材料之電性質,11.材料之熱性質,12.材料之磁性質,13.材料之光學性質,14.材料的腐蝕與蛻化,15.半導體材料、生醫材料、先進材料、智慧型材料及奈米科技,16.材料與環境的相互影響,17.材料的選擇與設計考量。

This course introduces the fabrication and performance of various materials as well as the relationships that exist between the chemical bonding, structures and properties of materials. It covers the following topics: Atomic Structures and Interatomic Bonding; Structure of Crystalline Solids; Imperfections and Diffusion in Solids; Phase Diagrams and Phase Transformations; Applications and Processing of Metal and Alloys; Structures, Properties, Applications and Processing of Ceramics; Structures, Characteristics, Applications and Processing of Polymers; Composites; Mechanical Properties of Materials; Electrical Properties of Materials; Thermal Properties of Materials; Magnetic Properties of Materials; Optical Properties of Materials; Corrosion and Degradation of Materials; Semiconductors, Biomaterials, Advanced Materials, Smart Materials and Nanotechnology; Environmental Issues in Materials Science and Engineering; Materials Selection and Design Considerations.
