| 中文概述 Chinese Description | 中國自近代以來，受西方勢力的入侵，因戰敗而被迫簽訂不平等條約，割地賠款，損失慘重。在此危急存亡之秋，幸國父孫中山先生領導革命，一舉推翻了滿清政府，建立了中華民國。自民國建立以後，由於國人普遍缺乏民主觀念，使得建國的過程充滿艱辛，加以軍閥之間的勾心鬥角，致使戰爭不斷，民不聊生，而共產主義也乘虛而入，並在國內生根﹑發展。民國二十六年，七七抗戰爆發，賴全國軍民同胞團結一致，終於打敗了日本．中國共產黨亦在此時不斷的擴張勢力，壯大自己，終至抗戰勝利後，全面叛變，並於三十八年竊據整個中國大陸，政府也被迫遷來台灣。政府遷來台灣後，在政治﹑社會﹑經濟等方面的發展亦是突飛猛進，此亦在本課程講授範圍內。 | |||
| 英文概述 English Description | In modern China , the western Europeans invaded our land, the Ch'ing court was forced to sign many unfair treaties. The Chinese people lived in misery, Fortunately, Dr. Sun Yat-sen led some social elite to overthrow the Manchus and built the R.O.C. in 1912. SInce then, a ceaseless military and civilian conflicts broke out. It was perhaps the most complex era of twenty-century Chinese History, in which, the Chinese Communist Party was initiated and developed. During the Sino-Japaness War, the Communist Party kept on expanding its organization and power. After the war, they occupied the mainland China Central Government move to Taiwan. Such then there is tremendous growth in intellectual, social and economic developments. In recent years, many political changes have also taken place. In this course, the backgrounds and characteristics of important historical events and persons, from the late CH'ing Dynasty to the period of Taiwan, are described and discussed. | |||
